Hi, I'm Sabira!
I specialize in providing trauma-informed interventions that are tailored to meet the cultural framework of diverse clients, including people of color, queer and trans folks, neurodivergent folks, children of immigrants, and survivors of interpersonal trauma (i.e. child abuse, sexual assault, intimate partner violence). I am dedicated to building a therapeutic environment that encourages authenticity, transparency, and compassion. I trust that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to consistently empower you to build toolkits to take charge of your journey to healing and recovery.
I am deeply rooted in anti-oppressive work, practicing from a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming, intersectional framework. I prioritize tailoring support for marginalized clients by honoring their intersecting identities and values. I believe it is particularly crucial to address that adverse experiences are often experienced in the context of additional oppressions related to race, gender, sexuality, disability, and socioeconomic status. It can be quite intimidating to discuss recovery and change when so many of the problems we face are predisposed and out of our control. Though we cannot change these systemic factors and past traumas, therapy offers space to better understand their impact and to build healthy ways of coping and healing.
